Position Summary:
The Senior VoIP Engineer is a critical technical role on the design, deployment, and maintenance of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems. This position requires deep expertise in VoIP technologies, network infrastructure, and telecommunications protocols. The engineer will ensures the efficiency, scalability, and security of VoIP services while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align communication systems with organization objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
VoIP System Design:
Develop and implement VoIP architectures tailored to the organization's communication needs, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and security.
System Deployment & Configuration:
Deploy, configure, and integrate VoIP systems, including hardware (Cisco UCS), software (Call Manager, Unity Connection, IM& Presence, UCCE, Attendant Console, VMWare and associated technologies), and network components(Cisco CUBE’s, router, and switches), ensuring seamless operation within existing infrastructure.
Optimization & Maintenance:
Configure and optimize VoIP platforms for performance and cost-efficiency. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high availability and quality standards. Familiarity with tools such as RTMT and Wireshark is a plus.
Security Management:
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect VoIP systems from unauthorized access, fraud, and cyber threats.
Vendor Evaluation & Management:
Assess and select vendors for VoIP solutions, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendor relationships. Stay updated on industry trends to make informed decisions. Manage SIP trunks and oversee VOIP circuit provisioning.
Documentation & Training:
Develop detailed documentation on system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and best practices. Conduct training sessions to ensure staff are proficient in system usage and maintenance.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with IT teams, network engineers, and business units to understand requirements and ensure VoIP solutions align with organizational goals. Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Education and Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting VoIP systems in enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in VoIP protocols (e.g., SIP, RTP, SRTP), codecs, QOS, and signaling standards.
Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) and network security principles.
Proficiency with VoIP platforms, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise, and WebEx.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Collaboration, and WebEx badges) are preferred.
Flexibility to work outside regular business hours for maintenance and emergency tasks.
Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or onsite support.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
