Systems Signal Integrity Engineer - Apple Mac
In this role, the candidate will work within the Mac Hardware organization, specifically in the SerDes I/O validation for Mac Platforms. Their responsibilities will include setting up and executing I/O Compliance flow bringups for Mac platforms, testing Mac platforms to stress-test I/Os in systems, and collecting metrics. Additionally, they will develop a factory-level eye-scan test flow for high-volume data collection to optimize IO design margins. The candidate will also be involved in high-speed validation and electrical compliance testing of I/Os for form-factor systems. Responsibilities: Execute high-speed serial I/O electrical compliance tests. Organize compliance data reports for comparison against specs and approval by certification orgs. Troubleshoot and triage issues with compliance test hardware, fixtures, software, and the DUT (Device Under Test). Provide failure analysis feedback for iterative HW design/SW Tunable improvements. Define and develop methods for stress testing to identify design operating limits of Serial IOs post system integration. Validate high-speed fixtures, connectors, cables, and Mac IOs. Develop python-based scripts to speed up automation and data collection. Minimum Qualifications: M.S Degree with 2-3 years relevant work experience. Familiarity with all aspects of Signal Integrity for high-speed SerDes, parallel bus, single-ended signaling. Ability to execute on channel analysis with Signal integrity EDA. Measurement expertise with frequency and time domain tools (VNA, TDR) including calibration methods. Preferred Qualifications: M.S. Degree with 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience. Deep knowledge of system-level Serdes design and analysis skills, including understanding of transmitter and receiver equalization methods (such as FFE, CTLE, DFE, VGA gain), CDR behaviors and modeling, link training algorithms, and eye margining tools. Serial bus expertise includes knowledge of the specifications of PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, and Thunderbolt. Excellent documentation and communication skills, the ability to work independently, a desire to mentor, and demonstrated innovation are essential. The ability to multitask and drive multiple issues to closure is also necessary. Familiarity with DP and USB4/TBT specifications as well as Matlab are a plus.
