what we do . Duties and Accountabilities: The Portfolio Manager will report to the manager of the CMIIL team, and will work in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to work well under pressure, be able to handle multiple tasks with high degrees of precision, and work well within a team. Duties and accountabilities will be, but not limited to, the following: Provide regular financial market updates at team and department meetings with a focus on global fixed income markets, as well as specific developments in the Asia/Pacific region. Gather and analyze market information to gauge investment opportunities within investment guidelines. Develop trading strategies for both money market and bond market portfolios that enable efficient management of liquidity, mitigate risk, and enhance returns of IBRD and IDA portfolios (USD and non-USD). Execute trades across asset classes and currencies, including strategies involving derivatives for hedging. Manage local currency money market and bond market portfolios in China and Japan. Execute FX spot transactions in developed and emerging market currencies in support of World Bank operations across the world. Collaborate with colleagues across multiple units in the World Bank on IBRD and IDA funding, currency, ALM and liquidity management policies. Support periodic review of investment portfolios, including preparation and presentation of materials. Present and communicate market and sector information, portfolio strategy, and performance in periodic reports and meetings. Keep abreast of market developments affecting different asset classes within and outside of the fixed income sector to identify opportunities and implications for portfolios under management. Develop excellent relations with internal stakeholders and external counterparts (including trade counterparts) and promote the reputation of the World Bank in the financial markets. Collaborate with colleagues on Treasury initiatives including reporting, risk management and technology enhancement projects, and contribute to additional projects as needed within the department. Provide guidance and training for junior staff. Any other duties as assigned. Selection Criteria Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Minimum 10 years experience in Capital markets. An excellent track record of managing significant investments in money markets is required. It is required to manage investments in money markets and fixed income, including deposits, repo, FX, and swaps. Expertise in managing investments across different regions (US, Europe, Asia) and currencies, and knowledge of derivatives for hedging (such interest rate and currency swaps) is required. Execute trades across asset classes globally and currencies, including strategies involving derivatives for hedging, is required. Successful candidates must have in-depth knowledge of funding and balance sheet management at a bank, with past experiences primarily focused on managing liquidity and investments within an ALM framework. Expertise in executing FX transactions for operations, including in emerging market currencies, is required. Strong quantitative and qualitative skills, including expertise in credit risk analysis. Knowledge of front-office operations, trading systems, and controls, related to global fixed-income trading. Excellent team player with the ability to work across the organization in a collaborative manner. Attention to detail and quick learning with the ability to work independently and guide and train colleagues. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in maintaining and building relationships with counterparts. Ability to multi-task, deliver results, and respond quickly and effectively to requests. Commitment to work in a multi-cultural environment with the highest ethical standards. Experience with systems supporting trading activities, including processes and controls surrounding the asset management business. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Experience giving presentations and communicating and interacting with a broad range of audiences is highly desirable. Additional language(s) is a plus but not required.
