Benchmark Automation is seeking a talented Senior Applications Engineer to contribute to the success of the company by driving growth and profitability of the product lines, working closely with customers and vendors. The position reports to the Applications Engineering Manager and is located in our Statham, GA facility. Who we’re looking for? Review customer Request for Proposal’s, drawings, control documentation and other specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of a design or project. Participate in the new project evaluation process by developing a concept, gathering cost data, and making recommendations based on a risk/benefit analysis. Liaise with management, sales, and engineering during concept development. Prepare preliminary design proposals including concept layout drawings using AutoCAD and prepare proposal documentation. Manage the proposal process for requests from other ProMach Brands. Network with other ProMach Brands to explore joint solutions for system integrations. Interact with customers to define scope, obtain specifications, and clarify questions regarding proposals. Assist in determining the most efficient path forward for proposals. Interact with vendors concerning part and/or assembly quotations required for the system being proposed. Review concepts and layouts developed by colleagues for feasibility and accuracy. Review proposals for technical and grammatical accuracy. Travel to customer sites for project evaluation. Interact with engineering and production to ensure the intended scope is followed. Assist marketing with technical aspects of product launches and sales support. Assist with pricing strategy and vendor communication. Work with assembly and engineering to develop testing methods for applications. Monitor quality issues and resolve vendor-related problems. Identify and understand competitive equipment. Maintain up-to-date sales and technical resources. Minimum Qualifications: BS in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. Packaging and/or proposal generation background a plus. Intermediate to advanced computer skills with programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High mechanical aptitude and AutoCAD 2D skills. Ability to handle confidential information ethically and professionally. Ability to work well in a team environment or independently. Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. Self-motivated with a hands-on approach. Ability to travel 20% of the time.
