The Origence Cybersecurity Engineer is relied upon to troubleshoot, design, implement, and maintain security measures that protect our organization’s information systems from cyber threats. This includes securing endpoints, networks, cloud environment, and data against unauthorized access, attacks, and threats. Our Cybersecurity Engineer will also be an escalation point and assist with identifying, containing, analyzing, and mitigating malicious activity and/or attacks in a timely and effective manner. The role involves the discovery, research, evaluation, strategy, and implementation of security tools that improve our overall posture. The Cybersecurity Engineer may implement and maintain solutions and configurations to achieve and/or maintain compliance.
The major purpose of the Cybersecurity Engineer role is to safeguard Origence's digital infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. By managing security technologies and responding to potential threats, the engineer helps mitigate risks, protect sensitive data, and collaborate in maintaining business continuity. Their work contributes to the overall security posture of the organization and helps prevent cyberattacks and data risk. This role will primarily be concentrated on endpoint security which includes EDR, email security, asset inventory, and securing connections between users and applications.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Ensure the protection of the organization’s endpoints by going beyond best practices and maximizing security coverage.
- Remain vigilant for incident response escalations that may involve the assistance with triaging alerts, determining severity levels, and responding as necessary while working with internal incident response and cross functional teams to ensure effective identification, containment, and resolution of incidents.
- Develop metrics around security tool endpoint coverage, utilization, feature improvements, and maturity. Also, review and maintain operational documentation and relevant reports.
- Build relationships with internal IT teams, including risk and compliance groups for efficient security tools tasks, security audit control reviews, and compliance.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders and security tool representatives to develop strategies for progressing our endpoint security. Lead the research, proof-of-concept, recommendation, and implementation of security technology solutions.
- Actively monitor internal ticketing system for requests, guidance, troubleshooting support, and approvals. Participate in on-call rotation as an escalation point for the support of relevant cybersecurity issues.
The Ideal Candidate:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Security.
- Or equivalent experience.
- Comptia, GIAC, IC2, or other related certifications a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years hands on experience with information technology.
- 4+ years as a cybersecurity engineer.
- Including 2 or more years cloud experience, Azure a plus.
Specialized Skills:
- Advanced EDR security tool deployment and utilization.
- Comprehensive knowledge in CASB, web filtering, and browser isolation.
- Proven understanding of DMARC, SPF, DKIM, various email encryption protocols, and advanced threat protection.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Java, C, and PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, log data analysis, and cloud infrastructure services.

The starting salary range for this full-time position in Irvine, CA is $111800 - $139800 per year. This base pay will take into consideration internal equity, candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge and experience among other factors. Origence maintains a highly competitive compensation program. Under company guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual bonus to provide an incentive to achieve targeted goals. Bonuses are awarded at company’s discretion on an individual basis.
