The Lab Technician prepares and analyzes environmental samples according to scientific methodology in compliance with company Quality Assurance programs and SOPs. The analyst validates and reviews data for accuracy and uploads laboratory data into the LIMS, generating required reports for clients. Responsibilities include scheduling sample workload according to due dates and sample hold times, and exercising discretion and judgment in the operation of job-specific laboratory testing equipment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze environmental samples. Accurately enter and report analytical data using the LIMS. Perform independent data reviews for other analysts’ work. Analyze reference materials, proficiency samples, and other quality control samples as needed. Maintain client service and provide technical support as needed. Assist the QA manager in development, implementation, and data collection of QA processes for different analytical tests. Confirm lab results as needed by client services personnel. Complete all analytical testing QA-related tasks as needed. Assist in pursuing, receiving, and maintaining necessary laboratory accreditations. Maintain and update all necessary training and QA documents onsite as necessary. Coordinate and manage projects according to their rush status and due time for timely delivery. Assist co-workers on analytical questions as necessary. Participate in Lean initiatives and projects when called upon. Follow company policies and procedures. Manage and maintain the inventory of re-sale supply items and laboratory consumables, taking necessary steps to reorder supplies as needed. Manage and dispose of analyzed samples as needed. Train new analysts in mycology, bacteriology, asbestos, or other analytical testing as needed. Recommend and coordinate sample transfer as necessary. Establish and maintain laboratory stock culture and reference samples. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for errors and issues as necessary. Maintain all equipment properly and coordinate servicing of all equipment used in the laboratory as needed. Routinely communicate available capacity to the Regional Manager. Support other departments within the lab (mycology, asbestos, bacteriology, and others) when appropriate and as needed. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Supervisor/Manager. Ideal Candidate Qualifications: Knowledge of environmental methodologies. Understanding of general regulatory requirements. Familiarity with analytical laboratory techniques. Knowledge of laboratory QA requirements. Proficiency in computers, spreadsheets, and databases. Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills. Minimum Requirements: BS or BA in a closely related science plus 1-2 years of laboratory experience required.
