We are seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Machine Operator to support our new construction projects. The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other equipment to assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, and other construction activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in equipment operation, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery to perform tasks such as site preparation, excavation, grading, backfilling, and material movement.
- Inspect and maintain equipment daily to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications to execute tasks accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as checking fluid levels, greasing, and cleaning machines.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to meet project deadlines.
- Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Operate machinery in tight or restricted spaces with precision and care.
- Perform manual labor tasks when equipment operation is not required, such as shoveling, trenching, or site cleanup.
Qualifications:
- MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS OPERATING A MINI EXCAVATOR.
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator, preferably in new construction or related projects.
- Proficiency in operating one or more types of equipment, such as excavators, skid steers, loaders, bulldozers, or graders.
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and equipment operation best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) and reliable transportation.
- Equipment operator certification or licensure as required by local/state regulations.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.
- May involve working in tight spaces or around other construction equipment and personnel.
- Adherence to strict safety protocols is required at all times.
