This role focuses on developing and evaluating manufacturing processes for new and existing products, supporting prototype and production operations. The position emphasizes optimizing cost, quality, and efficiency using Lean and Six Sigma practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate manufacturing processes to support prototype and production operations.
- Optimize production processes to balance cost and quality while reducing waste.
- Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement standard work methods that improve workflow, equipment utilization, and workspace organization.
- Continuously improve machine performance, setup times, and overall process efficiency.
- Support new product introductions (NPI), internal process changes (IPC), and process validation studies from concept to implementation.
- Develop product estimates and quotations using CAM software and provide accurate cost and time estimates for customer quoting.
- Create CNC programs for both turning and milling operations, troubleshooting issues at the shop floor level.
- Design and develop production fixtures and 2D drawings using CAD software.
- Develop production sequences, work instructions, and engineering sketches related to CNC machining.
- Work collaboratively with customers and suppliers to define product specifications and requirements.
- Proactively participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve reliability and cycle times.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or a minimum of three years of machine shop experience.
- Experience in a low-volume, high-product-mix manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) for milling and turning machinery.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes with a strong knowledge of cutting tool applications, GD&T, and precision measurement tools.
- Confident self-starter capable of working in cross-functional team environments and driving best practices.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2008 QMS environments.
- Expertise in CAM and CAD software such as Gibbs Cam and AutoCAD, with knowledge of NC Plot.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AS400 systems is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary info:
$40 - $47 / hr
