HOUSING NAVIGATOR - Short-Term Family Housing Hours of Work Monday - Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm (one evening 11:00am to 7:30pm) Salary Range $45K - $50K OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Recruit and retain landlords and housing managers willing to rent to clients who may otherwise fail to pass typical screening criteria. Meet with program participants to conduct housing applications, assessments and document clients progress or barriers to placement. Conduct housing unit searches and identify suitable units for clients; assist clients with gathering documents needed for housing placement; complete the housing and subsidy application process Conduct apartment or home pre-inspection and work collaboratively with the landlord to address identified deficiencies. Assist program staff with entering client intakes in the database and communicate eligibility requirements to clients. Establish and maintain relationships with landlords and community-based agencies via outreach and internet sourcing. Advocate on behalf of clients with rental barriers such as prior evictions, poor credit, and criminal history Prepare and submit reports, using HMIS and other software formats as required by the funder. Ensure that deadlines are met and that the work produced is of the highest quality. Other duties as assigned. NECESSARY SKILLS: Familiar with behaviors, attitudes and issues facing homeless populations. Knowledge of housing resources, subsidy programs and the Continuum of Care for individuals experiencing homeless Experience working with landlords and property managers preferred. Knowledge, skills, and resources to understand landlord perspectives; understanding of landlord and tenant rights. Must be culturally competent and sensitive towards diverse ethnic groups, cultural groups, and populations. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION CRITERIA: 100% client engagement 100% compliance with timely case notes including data completeness and accuracy 95% of clients housed within 90 day timeframe 100% of clients connected to housing subsidy/benefit if eligible Associates degree or two (2) years of college, required. Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, or related service/science preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with homeless services/social service programs instead of degree. Experience working with landlords or property managers, in real estate, or experience conducting appropriate connections of individuals, especially those experiencing homelessness, to housing services, preferred.
