The General Accountant is responsible for managing the general ledgers and preparation of financial statements for all assigned communities managed by Commonwealth Senior Living (CSL). The General Accountant reports to the Controller. This position offers a hybrid work schedule. Duties and Responsibilities: General ledger maintenance and account reconciliation during the month Month-end close Preparation and analysis of month-end close work paper files Prepare reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and prepare supporting schedules for all communities assigned. Reconciliations shall be completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis Preparation of Bank Reconciliations for community bank accounts that you are assigned Prepare and maintain prepaid assets schedules and amortization Reconcile Fixed Assets detail in Yardi; record depreciation journal entries Prepare depreciation schedules Prepare and maintain prepaid assets schedules and amortization Prepare and maintain prepaid insurance schedules and amortization Preparation and analysis of monthly revenue and expense accruals and accrual reversal journal entries Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements Preparation of budget vs actual variance analysis Reconciliation of key revenue and expense accounts Prepare analysis of ADC and ADR and explain budget variance Other Financial Reports as requested Daily/weekly reconciliations of cash accounts and all balance sheet accounts Recording recurring journal entries Assist in the preparation of the annual community's operating budgets Preparation of sales/use and personal property tax returns, business license filing/renewals. Acting as a backup for other teammate General Accountants as necessary Assist in providing ithe nformation requested from internal/external audits Acquiring in-depth knowledge of our integrated Yardi software and assisting others in its use Assist in providing financial information for tax return preparation Perform other accounting tasks as needed and assigned Special projects as assigned Conducting monthly financial statement review meetings with the Regional Vice Presidents and Executive Directors Competencies: Financial Management Business Acumen Communication Proficiency Ethical Conduct Leadership Performance Management Personal Effectiveness/Credibility Problem Solving/Analysis Strategic Thinking Technical Capacity Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or Associates degree in Accounting, or a minimum of five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience Multi-Entity Property Management Experience preferred
