Enterprise Data Governance Lead Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid) Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 (base) This full is FTE and is unable to offer sponsorship support. Job Description The Enterprise Data Governance Lead will spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, organization-wide data governance framework. This role emphasizes policy creation, standardization, and adoption across all divisions. Working in collaboration with various departments, IT teams, and external partners, the role focuses on aligning data governance policies with regulatory requirements and industry standards. The successful candidate will ensure the accuracy, consistency, security, and quality of enterprise data, fostering a strong data-driven culture. Roles & Responsibilities Data Governance Framework: Design and maintain the organization’s data governance structure, including policies, standards, and procedures to manage data effectively and ensure compliance. Define clear roles and responsibilities for data governance, establishing accountability for data stewardship. Policy Development and Oversight: Develop and enforce organization-wide data policies that prioritize security, compliance, and widespread adoption. Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure policies align with applicable regulations and corporate standards. Regularly review and adapt policies to address new challenges and advancements in technology. Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with business and IT teams to align goals for data governance initiatives. Chair a governance council or similar body to facilitate decision-making and communication. Partner with technical and business stakeholders to drive ERP transformation and related projects. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure alignment with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and SOX, and enforce internal privacy and security policies. Identify risks associated with data management and develop strategies to mitigate them. Technology and Tools: Recommend and evaluate tools for data governance, including data cataloging, lineage, and quality solutions. Collaborate with IT to integrate these tools into the organization’s ecosystem. Training and Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance principles and practices. Foster a culture of accountability and ownership regarding data use and management. Performance Metrics: Define and monitor KPIs for data governance initiatives to measure adoption and effectiveness. Provide regular updates and performance reports to leadership. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities At least 8 years of IT experience, ideally in domains such as Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), or Analytics. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage data governance initiatives. Industry experience in Oil & Gas is a plus. Skills: Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices. Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOX) and standards such as ISO 55001 and ISO/IEC 27001. Experience with tools like Oracle, Collibra, Informatica, and Alation. Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Oracle Cloud ERP, is an advantage. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment. Preferred: Certifications such as CDMP, CIMP, DGSP, or CGEIT are desirable. Familiarity with tools like Oracle EDQ, ODI, FAW, OAC, and Azure-based analytics platforms. Experience in data modeling, cloud-based analytics, and creating dashboards with visualization tools.
