Lyte Fiber, LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Fiber Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and maintenance of fiber-optic networks. You will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of Lyte Fiber’s fiber-optic network infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth deployment of fiber networks and the optimization of fiber-optic systems to support both residential and commercial services. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities. As a Senior Fiber Design Engineer , you will collaborate closely with other design engineers to ensure the efficient and timely implementation of fiber-optic systems. You will be involved in technical design, fieldwork, and troubleshooting to ensure network performance and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: · Network Design & Architecture: Lead the planning and design of fiber-optic network infrastructure, including route selection, system capacity planning, and network topology optimization to meet both current and future needs. · Project Management: Support the PMO Team in the implementation of fiber construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. · Installation & Troubleshooting: Provide technical guidance and support for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of fiber-optic systems and equipment. · Quality Assurance: Conduct site surveys, evaluate network performance, and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and scalability. · Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure successful execution of fiber projects and integration of new services. · Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in fiber-optic technology and provide recommendations for process improvements and technology adoption. · Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of network designs, schematics, and system configurations. Provide regular reports on project status, performance, and troubleshooting outcomes. Assist with the planning and execution of fiber optic network upgrades and expansions. Provide technical support during fiber network deployment and commissioning phases. Work closely with clients and vendors to ensure smooth project execution. Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during fiber installation and maintenance. · Manage the lifecycle of engineering geospatial data, including data creation, updating, and archiving. · Collaborate with engineering, GIS, network planning, field and construction teams to ensure data reflects the current state of the fiber network from planned through as-built. · Ensure as-built information is properly input into Vetro from construction print red-lines accurately and in a timely manner and uploaded into 811. · Perform quality control on projects and plans to ensure all requirements are met to adhere to Lyte Fiber’s standards. Additional Duties: · Attends various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met. · Provide weekly reports and update management on status and issues. · Work with PMO and provide regular updates on schedule, delays, and what steps may be required to mitigate the delays. · Assist in creating processes and standards documentation on all design applications to ensure that all data is being inputted in the system of record and adhere to Lyte Fiber’s standards. Minimum Qualifications: · Associate degree in GIS, Engineering, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience. · A minimum of 10 years of experience in GIS systems supporting fiber-optic network design, installation, maintenance, and OSP Fiber Engineering. · Experience with Vetro Fiber Map or similar GIS-based fiber management platforms. · Proficiency in GIS tools and applications, such as ArcGIS, Arc Online, or QGIS. · Strong understanding of OSP Engineering architecture, OSP Standards and telecom industry best practices. · In-depth knowledge of fiber-optic technologies, including GPON, FTTH, and other relevant standards. · Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with ability to present effective presentations to supervisors and managers. · Ability to travel for business as required. · Ability to work independently and with a team of senior-level engineers and supervisors to develop solutions to complete assigned tasks. · Working knowledge of city/county/DOT/Railroad permit process. · Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook · AutoCAD or similar tool experience is recommended. · Strong interest in fiber-optic technologies and telecommunications infrastructure. · Basic understanding of fiber-optic systems, splicing, and testing. · Knowledge of fiber optic network design principles and industry standards is a plus. · Familiarity with fiber testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, light sources, etc.) is a plus. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude. · Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.
