To support our growth, we are seeking a talented Development & Quality Control Chemist to join our dynamic team and contribute to the continued success of our product development and quality assurance efforts. Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Development & Quality Control Chemist to support the development of new chemical formulations and ensure the highest quality standards are met for our products. The role will involve both the development of innovative chemical solutions, with a focus on cleaning products, surfactants, and emulsions, and performing rigorous quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. This position will require a strong understanding of chemical formulations, testing methods, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: Product Development Responsibilities: Develop, formulate, and optimize new chemical products, including cleaning products, surfactants, emulsions, automotive detailing solutions, and other specialty chemicals. Work with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure new products meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory standards. Conduct laboratory-based experiments to scale up formulations and improve existing products. Perform stability testing and evaluate the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of products. Investigate new raw materials, ingredients, and technologies to improve product performance and sustainability. Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders. Quality Control Chemist Responsibilities: Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Accurately record and report test results in laboratory notebooks, databases, and reports. Identify any deviations from established product specifications and investigate root causes, taking corrective or preventive action as necessary. Develop and validate new testing methods and procedures for more efficient and accurate analysis. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards. Ensure compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9001, GMP, and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EPA). Collaborate with other departments (e.g., R&D, production, and regulatory affairs) to address quality issues and recommend improvements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality control processes and the development of new product quality standards. Additional Responsibilities: Participate in product performance trials and provide feedback on formulation improvements. Assist in ensuring that all product labels, technical documents, and product safety information are accurate and up-to-date. Work to resolve any production or product quality issues quickly and efficiently, while maintaining a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and quality. Support regulatory submissions and documentation by providing detailed product analysis and validation data. Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is a plus. Experience: At least 4 years of experience in a product development or quality control role within the chemical manufacturing industry, preferably with cleaning products, surfactants, polymers, emulsions, or automotive detailing products. Experience with chemical formulations, product testing, and quality assurance protocols in a manufacturing environment. Skills: Proficiency in analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, titration, and viscosity measurements. Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments and equipment, including pH meters, HPLC, and analytical balances. Strong understanding of product safety, quality control principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, EPA, OSHA). Ability to develop and validate test methods, analyze data, and generate reports. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality results. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
