Design, develop, and launch next-generation Optical Sensing Technologies in Apple products. The Optical Sensing Hardware team develops Optical Sensor solutions and technologies for Apple’s products, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, audio accessories, Mac, and more. The key goal of the Optical Sensing Hardware team is to enable the world’s best user experience. New challenges arise every day that require the sharp problem-solving skills of talented and smart individuals. The team features a collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation. We are looking for Sensor ASIC Architects to help develop custom mixed signal ICs for new Sensors and Sensing Systems for future Apple products.
Description
Work with the optical/system team to architect and define electro-optical sensing systems. Define custom IC architecture and IC requirements, including detailed block diagrams and specifications. Perform ASIC system modeling with high-level tools, determine verification plans. Review IC design/development process and test requirements with IC vendors. Support ASIC characterization/validation, system bring-up, and integration to ensure IC is properly interfaced with HW/FW. Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly and concisely. Conduct sensing system feasibility studies and system modeling, proto-typing of proof of concept, and function demonstration for roadmap development. Some business travel as needed to support product development. Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience Key Qualifications

Strong electrical engineering background and hands-on experience in electrical design, with analog/mixed signal IC design experience and ideally also with board-level circuits and integration of custom ICs into systems A track record of successful IC architecture - beyond block-level design of specific on-chip functions Fundamental understanding of limitations and trade-offs of electrical circuits and semiconductor processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid teamwork and leadership skills Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools Experience in opto-electronics and optics a plus Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics plus 2+ years experience BS/MS in Electrical Engineering plus 5+ years experience. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
