We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director of Accounting and Payroll in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role heavily involves managing the monthly financial close process, developing accounting policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with internal control policies. The successful candidate will be interacting with all levels of stakeholders to produce accurate and efficient financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and managing the monthly financial close process, including the review of journal entries and account balance reconciliations.

• Playing a key role in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies, procedures, and operational strategies.

• Actively working towards improving system efficiencies and business practices.

• Taking part in strategic financial projects such as system upgrades and implementations.

• Ensuring compliance with internal control policies and collaborating with external auditors to achieve successful audit results.

• Interacting with budget owners and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting.

• Having ultimate authority over the classification and booking of all transactions, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements.

• Analyzing the impact of statutory accounting practices and regulations to ensure the correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Making recommendations for changes as needed to ensure company policies and procedures are followed and fraud is prevented.

• Preparing detailed journal entries and account analyses, and assisting with the compilation of information for the preparation of tax returns.

• Working closely with the Audit, Tax, and Treasury Manager to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities.

• Preparing summary feedback of financial statement variances to budget and actively reviewing and advising on financial/accounting processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting systems, well-developed financial analysis capabilities
  • Experience with investment or not-for-profit accounting.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret and use complex data, logical and data-driven work style.
  • The ability to lead, collaborate, influence and build relationships with all levels of the organization and manage a team to implement new projects.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines.
