This role combines strategic leadership and hands-on analytical expertise, supporting the Product and Technology organization to enhance financial planning, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Business Services, the position will manage engineering budgeting processes, optimize cost management systems, and provide actionable insights to senior stakeholders while mentoring a small team of strategic sourcing managers.This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Engineering.ResponsibilityLead the development and management of the engineering annual operating budget and multi-year financial plansCollaborate with engineering leadership to align divisional budgets with organizational priorities and strategic goalsProvide detailed explanations of budget variances and trends, highlighting risks, opportunities, and actionable insightsDesign, develop, and maintain advanced dashboards and reports to track financial and operational metrics across engineering functionsSummarize complex analytical findings into visually compelling presentations for senior leadershipMonitor trends to identify areas for cost optimization and resource allocation improvementsEnhance financial and budgeting systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparencyImplement standardized processes for collecting investment requests and evaluating ROIProvide training to engineering teams on budgeting systems and tools, ensuring alignment on best practicesPartner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and product, to provide financial guidance and operational insightsLead initiatives to improve financial planning processes, including cost management and investment trackingSupport strategic projects such as infrastructure cost optimization and cloud expense managementMentor a team of 2-3 strategic sourcing analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountabilityEncourage professional growth and development through coaching and continuous feedbackConduct research on industry benchmarks to inform decision-making and drive competitive advantageSupport organizational goals through ad hoc analyses, presentations, and strategic projectsTrack and report progress toward divisional and company-wide strategic initiativesJob DesignationHybrid:Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. Docusign reserves the right to change a position's job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.What you bringBasicBachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, finance, or a related field12+ years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, or related roles, with a focus on engineering or technology-driven organizationsExperience in cost analysis optimization, financial modeling, and strategic budget planningExperience with Excel, including complex formulas (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP)Experience collaborating cross-functionally and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholdersExperience managing competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentPreferred Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detailMaster’s degree in engineering, business, finance, or accounting.Extensive experience with annual operating planning and financial systems for SaaS or technology organizationsProficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization toolsStrong background in both on premise/datacenter cost management and cloud cost managementWage TransparencyPay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:California: $151,800.00 - $245,150.00 base salaryWashington, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $145,800.00 - $214,350.00 base salaryThis role is also eligible for the following:Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals.
