Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division, seeks a qualified Senior Staff Systems Engineer to support the HALO program within the Space Systems Division at NGSP located in Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ. This Systems Engineering role will serve as the deputy IPT lead and Technical Lead for an Integrated Product Team responsible for the physical layout of the HALO spacecraft. In this role, the individual is responsible for technical execution which includes oversight of the following functions: systems analysis and trades, coordinating engineering activities, engineering baseline management, subcontractor technical oversight, preparing/presenting material at major reviews and PMRs.The responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. Successful candidate will also be called upon to support other activities, including architecture studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions. In this leadership level role, the Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead design, analysis and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate space segment technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.Responsibilities:Lead/Provide major support to the Mechanical Layout Integrated Product TeamLead and optimize space vehicle design, processing and mission success.Proactive. Independently determines and develops approach to solutionsTroubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems that the program may encounter.Develop, author and/or provide input to major program data products and other deliverables.Technical management of program elementsPlan and conduct of technical reviews and technical baselineWrite status and technical performance reviews and reportsMentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise junior staffMust be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on scheduleAbility to lead a diverse multi-discipline Engineering teamThe candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.#NOVASPACEBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math), and 14 years of applicable experience or a Master’s Degree and 12 years of applicable experience.Extensive technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems, including space systems development, manufacture, test or operations, including previous technical or project leadership positionsUnderstanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration & testComplete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplinesMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in EngineeringExperience in system architecture & CONOPs developmentExperience with Class A human-rated spaceflight programsSalary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
