We're looking for a team-oriented Principal Electrical Engineer to add to our team in Germantown, MD.

Job Summary

You will drive technology decisions and assure completion of activities on time and budget. Possess the ability to complete a technical project independently and determine detailed design approach. Participate in preparation of more complex and significant proposals. Research, design, develop, analyze, verify, and validate digital electronic products, systems and subsystems including signal and radar processing systems, network communications, electronic warfare systems, and air combat systems.

You will be responsible for most, if not all, requirement decomposition/definition/clarification, design, verification, associated documentation for digital electronics development, design revision control and archival. Provide substantial contributions to test and verification plans that establish functional criteria to ensure requirements have been met. Verify test results against requirements and analyze performance. Evaluate and tailor process flow including but not limited to high level architecture/design and detailed implementations for programs. Function in a project leadership role and may provide direction to lower level employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications and requirements, decompose system requirements and Statements of Work (SOW) into digital configuration item (CI) requirements by using formal methodologies/tools to capture and track requirements. Work with other IPT (Integrated Product Team) members to ensure product/system meets operational requirements.
  • Lead digital design, review, or verification activities to ensure implementation and verification of all requirements, including cost as a key design variable. Support programs design to cost and design for manufacturability requirements.
  • Apply a strong understanding of the organization’s defined digital processes throughout the lifecycle of the program or project. Regularly participate in the improvement of the organization’s digital and other processes.
  • Contribute to the development of new theories/methods and present concepts, designs, decisions, and results to internal management.
  • Lead root cause analysis for complex issues, conduct experimental tests, evaluate results to formulate and implement solutions to issues and support regaining or attaining customer partner status.
  • Responsible for design technical planning, scheduling support, risk analysis and successful execution of small to medium programs or major subsystems of a larger program containing substantial digital engineering content.
  • Analyze designs as necessary. Responsible for higher-level product line architecture, and providing guidance and oversight to a development team to ensure different technologies inter-operate or connect to each other appropriately.
  • Develop trusted engineering contacts with the customer, understanding the customer's gaps/deficiencies in the progress, and participate in providing targeted innovative solutions that close those gaps.
  • Contributions to technical subcontract management that may include Statement of Work (SOW) development, proposal evaluation, source selection, technical oversight, and subcontractor work product evaluation and acceptance.
  • Highly skilled at communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions. Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experience or Masters and 6 years of experience.
  • Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge.
  • Expected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines.
