Position Summary
The Production Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the production process at our ice cream manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production runs efficiently, safely, and meets quality standards while optimizing costs and meeting customer demands. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills and experience in food manufacturing, particularly frozen desserts.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
Plan, organize, and manage daily production operations to meet production schedules and targets.
Ensure all products are manufactured according to quality and food safety standards, including FDA, SQF, and HACCP requirements.
Monitor production metrics, analyze performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Supervise, mentor, and develop production staff, including supervisors, machine operators, and line workers.
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and identify training needs for staff.
Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all equipment is operating efficiently with minimal downtime.
Participate in the development and execution of capital projects related to production.
Enforce workplace safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company regulations.
Oversee regular safety and quality audits, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Ensure all employees adhere to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure raw material availability and inventory control.
Collaborate with the R&D team to scale up new product formulations.
Liaise with the quality assurance team to maintain product standards and resolve any quality issues.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in food science, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with a focus on frozen or dairy products.
Proven experience managing production teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, SQF, FDA).
Familiarity with production planning software and ERP systems.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.
