Summary The Office of Stem Engagement (OSTEM) at the Glenn Research Center (GRC) is seeking a skilled individual to provide leadership and management of the GRC OSTEM, and to serve as the GRC principal adviser, spokesperson, and liaison for educational and student engagement activities. The GRC OSTEM Director manages and organization that leads and contributes to a diverse set of national projects devoted to engaging students and educators in NASA's missions. Responsibilities Leads and manages the Center's OSTEM and integrates Agency-wide STEM projects; manages activities that leverage NASA's science, engineering, and technology programs to reach students in elementary and secondary schools and colleges/universities. Manages the people and work of the organization. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work. Serves as a supervisor in defining jobs, selecting employees, and assigning work. Defines work requirements and approves products; evaluates the organization and employee accomplishments. Provides equal opportunity in all Federal human capital and employment programs. Forms partnerships with other Federal agencies, state departments of education, educational associations, private industry, non-profit foundations, youth-serving and other organizations to better coordinate NASA's STEM engagement resources. Serves as the Center authority for STEM Engagement, including program development affecting diverse populations in multiple locations. Develops policy, goals, objectives, and procedures governing relationships with institutions of learning from elementary through higher education. Provides technical assistance in the development and implementation of new or expanded instructional programs; administers teacher/faculty enhancement efforts; and student engagement activities that support NASA's mission. Manages educational program/project budgets including short- and long-range planning and evaluation of requirements and priorities. Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Collaborating across diverse interdisciplinary teams, leveraging specialized expertise to build impactful and results-driven coalitions; Applying concepts of strategic planning in order to connect strategy with execution and achieve intended results; Analyzing the effectiveness of programs/projects and communicating recommended improvements to leadership at multiple levels.
