EVP, Chief Development and Growth Officer

Job Summary

Under the CEO & President, the Executive Vice President/Chief Development and Growth Officer creates and implements a strategy for sustainable fund development growth and is responsible for engaging and growing a community of investors to help ensure organizational sustainability. This executive-level position is accountable for the company's profits and productivity growth. This position will develop strategies to expand business outreach and work alongside the other executive vice presidents and CEO to ensure business growth using a comprehensive understanding of business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets and articulates a vision for the organization’s next fundraising chapter; builds and executes the strategic plan; evaluates outcomes with a metrics-based approach.
  • Develops (with CEO) and oversees the implementation of a comprehensive and prioritized annual and multi-year development plan.
  • Operates as a liaison between donors, the fundraising organization, and those on the receiving end of the philanthropy.
  • Manages a donor portfolio; participates in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Research and present organizational growth opportunities to the CEO and EVP Team.
  • Research new and changing development trends and plan and oversee outreach events with the development and marketing team.
  • Builds a vibrant network of major gift donors who feel connected to and supportive of the mission of OHU and are appreciated for their generosity; collaborates with this broad array of donors and deepens financial support in the communities in which OHU operates; builds buy-in and generates support from all stakeholders.
  • Expands and develops fund development opportunities through new and ongoing corporate and foundation partnerships.
  • Supports the OHU Board as a critical partner in growing private fundraising.
  • Promotes the agency’s culture of accountability as a player/coach by developing goals and performance targets with each marketing and development team member; provides coaching and support to ensure that targets are met and/or exceeded.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education:
BA/BS degree required; MA/MS degree preferred. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification, a plus.

Experience:
7-10 years of related experience, including knowledge of annual giving, fundraising, foundation/corporate solicitations, communications, and special events.

Other:
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU-required levels of coverage for auto insurance.

  • Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal; ability to present effectively and concisely to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Above-average report writing.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations and problem-solve effectively.
  • Empathy, confidence, honesty; ability to communicate trust and integrity.
