Position: Platform Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH 45202

Job Description:
As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for a wide range of third-party data platforms. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation and optimization of these platforms, enabling our business to make data-driven decisions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide platform support for various third-party data platforms, including but not limited to DataStage, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, Business Objects, DataIku, Denodo, Atacamma, Alation, BigID, CloudPak, NiFi, Kafka, Lenses, and Confluence.

* Maintain the company platform uptime, performance, stability, and scalability

* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the supported platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and maintain data platforms within the existing infrastructure.

* Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.

* Monitor platform performance using solutions such as Dynatrace, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.

* Continual improvement and fine-tuning of various alerting and monitoring systems.

* Provide guidance and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize the data platforms.

* Document processes, procedures, and best practices for platform support and maintenance.

* Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in data platforms and related technologies.

* Lead platform related projects (including planning, communicating, and executing) such as migration efforts to new platforms or decommisioning obsolete platforms.

Qualifications:

* Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.

* Proven experience in supporting third-party products and data platforms.

* Proficiency in writing and maintaining Bash scripts.

* Experience with monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace.

* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Exposure to AWS services (Lambda, RDS, ECS, S3, etc)

* Ability to read and write Python code.

* Familiarity with governance and security best practices.
