WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-time Ports and Maritime Project Engineer for our Houston, TX office. The WSP Maritime group is a dynamic and energetic group with strong work ethics and a great culture of collaboration and camaraderie. You would be joining the largest and best waterfront/marine design group in the region. The projects are diverse in nature, interesting, and challenging.
Your Impact
  • Perform structural analysis and design for marine and upland components under limited supervision.
  • Perform finite element analyses (SAP2000) and/or geotechnical slope stability analyses (SLIDE, PLAXIS) and berthing/mooring analyses.
  • Design reinforced/prestressed concrete and steel elements.
  • Develop plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for port projects in accordance with client requirements.
  • Supervise and assist in preparation of drawings in AUTOCAD and/or REVIT.
  • Independently prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and study reports.
  • Assist with inspection and design which requires work both in field and office settings.
  • Mentor developing ports and marine engineers.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline.
    • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in analysis, design, and repair of port and/or Navy structures.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Federal design standards (UFCs and UFGS) for US Navy/Coast Guard
  • Hands-on analyses and design experience (SAP2000, OPTIMOOR, L-PILE, Stadd.Pro, ADINA)
  • Seismic design experience
  • Additional positions available for individuals holding a commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to the qualifications above.
