The Mortars and Protective Coatings Training Manager will oversee, develop, and deliver advanced training programs for our certified applicators and internal crews. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our high standards for the application of spray applied mortars and epoxy coatings using shotcrete and plural component pumps. As a leader in quality assurance, you'll drive technical excellence, enhance safety compliance, and foster customer success through hands-on support and guidance.

The Mortars and Protective Coatings Training Manager will oversee, develop, and deliver advanced training programs for our certified applicators and internal crews. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our high standards for the application of spray applied mortars and epoxy coatings using shotcrete and plural component pumps. As a leader in quality assurance, you'll drive technical excellence, enhance safety compliance, and foster customer success through hands-on support and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical failures of plural component spray systems while developing mitigation strategies and solutions.
- -Responsible for assessing mechanical failures, diagnosing root cause of failures, planning mitigation strategies, and developing solutions to problems with centrifugal- cast spray systems.
- Coordinate closely with project managers and clients to ensure project specifications are met with precision.
- Supervise the mixing, application, and curing of epoxy coatings, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting during application and inspections, guaranteeing quality outcomes.
- Develop, customize, and lead comprehensive training programs on protective coatings and plural component pumps for certified applicators and internal teams.
- Ensure all training programs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Offer technical support to sales and customer service teams, contributing to upselling opportunities when appropriate.
- Conduct inspections, ensure coatings quality, and maintain detailed reports to document project performance.
- Continuously evaluate and improve training effectiveness, maintaining up-to-date records and materials.
- -Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the inspection process.
- -Provide regular project updates to the management team.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in the application and inspection of cementitious coatings and linings in the wastewater industry.
- 5+ years of experience in the application of protective coatings sprayed in various methods.
- Any certifications such as NACE, AMPP, SSPC, or other coatings inspection certifications is a plus. AMPP CIP 2 or NACE Level 2 certification is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise with plural component pumps and protective coating applications.
- Strong leadership experience, with at least 3 years managing and training technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of industry standards, including AMPP, NACE, SSPC, and OSHA regulations.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the coating industry.
- Experience in creating training curriculum and delivering instructional programs.
- Strong project management abilities, with a track record of successfully coordinating multiple priorities.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel as required, including out-of-town projects.
- Computer literacy skills, with ability to operate software such as Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint.
- Bilingual proficiency preferred but not and industry certifications are a plus.
Key qualities and skills for the job:
- In-depth knowledge of infrastructure rehabilitation procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines.
- Highly experienced in surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions mitigation, test instruments, coating mixtures, protective coating application and safety concerns.
- General mechanical ability, and general knowledge of hand/power tools
- Ability to operate and conduct basic troubleshooting of mixers, sprayers and concrete pumping equipment and hydraulic systems.
- Possesses understanding of all required work site permits including confined space, hot work, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), etc.
- Knowledge of inspection practices and experience determining inspection methods best suited for specific applications
- Demonstrates understanding of concrete mixes (good/bad and wet/dry).
- Understands project up-selling opportunities and options.
- Keep current with industry standards and regulations.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.
