The salary range for our CNC Machinist 1 job is $22.00-$30.00 per hour with the job description below. An additional 10% 2nd shift premium as well! Summary/Objective: Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numeric control (CNC) machine for vertical and horizontal milling operations while maintaining quality, efficiency, and safety standards, and recording production output. Job Responsibilities Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, work order data from engineering, materials, specifications, drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces and machining parameters, and interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD & T). Checks stock-parts to ascertain the amount available, anticipating needed parts stock, requests expedited orders for parts stock, and verifies receipt of stock. Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry and trigonometry; proving part programs. Sets up mills by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tool attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers, indicating vices, tramming heads etc. Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. Verifies settings by measuring positions to first run part, and approved sample work pieces while adhering to required standards. Maintains specifications by observing milling, grooving, and cutting, including all vertical and horizontal machine specs; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions and requesting repairs and assistance as needed Maintains continuity among work shift by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications as requested. Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and varied requests; takes initiative to add value to job accomplishments. Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment and practices good housekeeping. Applies classroom and on the job training information, knowledge, skills and abilities consistently in a quality oriented manner. Performs other tasks as directed. Educational, Experience Based and Skill Qualifications High school diploma or GED and completion of Journeyman CNC Machinist apprenticeship including the classroom coursework and four (4) years' experience in set-up, operations, and optimizing CNC vertical and horizontal milling machining centers. Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Demonstrates basic CNC programming skills and ability to operate a wide variety of CNC machines. Ability to set up and troubleshoot a wide variety of CNC machines. Ability to read prints, diagrams, and use micrometers, verniers, calipers, and gauges. Strong attention to detail. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, remain on feet for extended periods, reach, stoop, kneel and lift up to and including 35 pounds as needed.
