After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation's first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Department Assistant to join our Brightline West team. This individual will be responsible for supporting a staff of highly experienced design and construction professionals through the performance of various non-technical task assignments. This individual will be a team player with a collaborative spirit, be self-directed and accountable, able to complete assignments with limited oversight, have a positive, can-do attitude, and be flexible in an ever-changing environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support a staff of highly experienced design and construction professionals through performance of various non-technical task assignments.
  • Read and comprehend a wide variety of documentation; analyze, distribute and process appropriately.
  • Troubleshoot minor IT issues for various Construction Team members.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and support various meetings and conference rooms as needed.
  • Create and update project progress reports.
  • Maintain an online document filing system that is coordinated with Document Control.
  • In general, ascertain and undertake tasks necessary to keep the project Construction Team operating at peak productivity, which includes tight coordination with our Ontario, CA satellite office.
  • Analyze office processes to determine how efficiency could be improved.
  • Work with the Director, Safety to ensure all appropriate teammates receive various trainings and safety gear.
  • Maintain accurate branding across construction documents.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to develop organizational processes.
  • Sincere interest in working in an environment focused on successful delivery of a large and complex project.
  • Above average computer literacy.
  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a construction or engineering office environment.
  • Prior major infrastructure project experience preferred.
