Position Summary :

The Adverse PD Subrogation and Arbitration Specialist will be responsible for Initiating or Responding to Intercompany Arbitration cases. In addition, responsible to obtain a certification to hear case as assigned for other insurance industry members. This position requires to hear cases as an unbiased arbitrator. To be an arbitration panelist, 3-5 years of liability claims experience is required.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Verify coverage and liability decisions for multiple jurisdictions.

  • Maintain an active diary and proactively evaluate and resolve third-party damages.

  • Negotiate settlements with third parties and prepare payments for property damage, attorney fees, and other expenses.

  • Oversee claim inventory utilizing best practices to actively move claim forward to resolution.

  • Investigate all property damage claims by identifying all potential claimants.

  • Secure and evaluate value of damages involved.

  • Submit for manager approvals on claims exceeding settlement authority.

  • Evaluate and complete a concise written contention that is supported by evidence to persuade the arbitrator to support Kemper’s position.

  • Timely review of the decision which may require an inquiry to Arbitration Forums to reconsider the ruling.

  • Process payments in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Correspond with insureds, adverse parties, attorneys, claim representatives, and others by telephone and email.

  • Resolve all claims in accordance with regulatory and jurisdictional requirements.

Position Requirements :

  • Minimum 3 years prior auto liability claims handling experience

  • High school diploma or GED, Four-year college a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Be detail oriented with strong planning and organization skills

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Ability to negotiate

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

  • This position will start fully onsite for the training period. Once training is completed this will transition to onsite with occasional WFH opportunities out of our Dallas, TX or Birmingham, AL offices.
