Availability: Overnight Camp and training runs between July 7-August 15. Cabin Counselors are required to live on site during camp training and sessions-all meals, snacks, and lodging are provided during those times. Camp staff receive time off on the weekends and breaks throughout the week.
Location: Overnight camp is located at Camp Casey in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island.
Salary: $175-190/day

YMCA Overnight Camps provide youth the opportunity to learn new skills, gain an appreciation for the outdoors, while experiencing achievement, relationships, and belonging. Overnight Camp Counselors provide direct supervision of a group of children in an overnight camp setting, and ensure a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring, through leading and participating in activities, games, and implementing camp curriculum.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Actively supervise and provide safe supervision of a group of children
- Cabin Counselors split time between leading activities and daily bunk responsibilities
- Cabin Counselors spend the night in a cabin with campers
- Spend the day working with campers and participating in all activities with them.
- Lead activities that suit the needs of campers entering 1st-11th grades and for campers of all abilities
- Implement camp program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values in order to meet the intended child outcomes
- Be a positive role model to children and staff in your attitude and actions
- Interact and engage with children in an age and developmentally appropriate manner, and use positive behavior guidance techniques
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
- Maintain positive relations with parents/guardians and other staff
- Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their children to have a successful camp experience
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 18
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Fluency in second language desired
