This unique role blends the rewarding mission of volunteer coordination with the strategic focus of recruitment, all in service of Chesterfield County's Fire and EMS agencies.Why You'll Love This Role:In this role, you'll serve as the vital connection between Chesterfield Fire and EMS, our dedicated volunteer network, and aspiring career firefighters. You'll work to inspire new volunteers, strengthen relationships with current members, and support the recruitment of career firefighters who will shape the future of public safety in our community. What You'll Do:As the Fire and EMS Recruiter/Volunteer Coordinator, you will:Promote Volunteerism: Act as a liaison for the Chesterfield Fire and EMS volunteer system, fostering collaboration across operational and administrative teams.Streamline Volunteer Onboarding: Process applications, coordinate background checks, and ensure smooth administrative onboarding.Retain Volunteers: Develop and execute recognition programs, service awards, and incentives to honor our volunteers' dedication.Recognize Members: Lead department-wide recognition programs to include years of service awards and semi-annual awards ceremonies. Recruit Career Firefighters: Support ongoing firefighter recruitment efforts through sourcing, marketing, and representing the department at career events.Collaborate with Stakeholders: Maintain positive working relationships and partner with county fire and EMS volunteer agencies to create impactful recruitment materials and outreach campaigns.Measure Impact: Evaluate the success of volunteer and recruitment efforts to aid in program decisions.What You Bring to the Table:Knowledge and Skills:Strong understanding of human resources principles, recruitment strategies, and volunteer management.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build lasting relationships.Proficiency in using social media, HR software, and office technology to enhance recruitment efforts.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field.At least one year of professional HR experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Preferred Experience:Two years of hands-on experience in Fire and/or EMS (Career or Volunteer), Public Speaking and Event Planning & Execution. Requirements:Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months OR a Department of Motor Vehicles DMV driving record point balance less than negative one. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at the time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, CPS check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Shift Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; occasional night and weekend support for employment processes and special events.
