We are currently looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented problem-solver HR Generalist to join our team in New York. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the HR Generalist serves as the first point of contact for employees at our locations in New York. The HR Generalist will manage various HR activities including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, HRIS management, occupational health and safety, performance management, compensation and payroll, and other administrative tasks.
This role will be responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources strategies and initiatives, maintaining accurate and comprehensive employee records, and supporting managers both at the corporate and retail levels.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Talent Management & Onboarding:
- Lead and manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, background screening and extending job offers; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Support the development and implementation of talent management strategies, including succession planning and employee development programs
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company
Employee Relations & HR Operations:
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures
- Resolve employee conflicts and conduct investigations as needed
- Oversee employee termination procedures, including conducting exit interviews and coordinating the offboarding process
- Ensure the accuracy of employee data within the HRIS, conducting regular audits and updates
Culture & Engagement:
- Implement and support employee engagement strategies, including recognition programs, feedback channels, wellness initiatives, and team-building activities.
- Foster a positive work environment that enhances employee satisfaction and supports professional growth
Payroll & Benefits administration:
- Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, leave policies etc.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation
- Prepare and submit reports related to HR metrics and compliance
Administrative tasks:
- Manage office vendor relationships, ensuring efficient procurement and supply management
- Maintain office supplies and snacks, coordinating with relevant teams for any office-related requirements
- Coordinate with maintenance and cleaning services to ensure a clean and safe office environment.
- Other administrative tasks/ duties as assigned
Skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

- High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems and tools (experience with Bamboo and Gusto is a plus)
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business administration, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a preference for experience in the retail industry
- SHRM or HRCI certification is an asset
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture
