Job Description:

The Legal Assistant will support attorneys in the litigation department by performing a wide variety of tasks. This position demands an individual with a strong background in litigation support and experience working in large law firms. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in assisting the team to ensure efficient management of legal cases and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys and paralegals.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and evidence.
  • Coordinate and manage case calendars, including deadlines for filings and hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and manage discovery responses.
  • Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and other documents.
  • Prepare and organize case files, both electronically and physically.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and courts as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial and settlement documents.
  • Provide support with billing, invoicing, and other administrative tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of legal assistant experience in litigation within a large law firm.
  • Proficiency with litigation software (e.g., Relativity, CaseMap, etc.), MS Office Suite, and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures, including filing requirements, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
