This position involves lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders. Incumbent may work in all weather conditions and move in and around confined spaces. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain.
Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.

Typical Job Functions
Cleaning/Maintenance
- Performs heavy duty cleaning in classrooms, lavatories, laboratories, and other assigned areas
- Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes lavatory fixtures
- Sanitizes furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items
- Shampoos carpets, and furniture
- Cleans light fixtures, and replacing light bulbs
- Removes waste and debris from assigned areas
- Measures and mixes compounds, disinfectants, and sanitizing agents and applies according to procedures or manufacturers' specifications
- Sweep, mop, buff, strip, seal, floors in assigned areas
- Washes inside and outside windows in single and multi-story buildings
- Performs preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment
- Verifies doors are locked, lights are off, and appliances are off
- Reports fire hazards and other hazards as warranted
- Shovel snow from walkways and spread ice melt in assigned areas
- Removes trash and boxes from assigned areas
- Communicates with foreman when supplies are low in assigned areas
- Keep work space clean and organized
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Equipment Operation:
- Operates heavy-duty scrubbers, buffers, shampooers, vacuums, and wet/dry equipment
- Checks equipment before use to insure its ready
- Uses airlift platforms, dollies, ladders, and hand carts
- Replaces belts, brushes, bags, pads, filters, and bearings in power equipment
- Reports fire hazards and other emergencies
Miscellaneous:
- The custodians perform a variety of duties to help ensure the campus operates smoothly. This may include:
- Setting-up bleachers, tables, and chairs for special events, and providing direction and answering basic questions regarding events for patrons
- Taking down the set-up and re-setting for another special event
- Ability to move heavy items such as tables, chairs, and pushing the bleacher back
- Ability to or seek help in repairing equipment and related devices
- Using computers to communicate and report data
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Able to repetitively lift 65 pounds
- Able to lift and carry items weighing approximately 90 pounds
- Able to work 8 hours on your feet
- Willingness toperform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners
- Ability to lift and move heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers
- Ability to repair and maintain custodial equipment
- Knowledge of computers
- Incumbent must reside in Idaho (CEI does not currently sponsor H-1B visas)
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience performing duties associated with commercial cleaning
- Experience with repairing and maintaining custodial equipment
- Experience operating computer system
- Bilingual (Spanish)
