We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Fabrication Manager to join our team as we continue to expand our operations.


Job Description: The Shop Fabrication / Welding Foreman will oversee all aspects of the fabrication process within our workshop, ensuring the timely and efficient production of high-quality products. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of fabricators, welders, and other shop personnel to meet production targets while working along side of them and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.


Responsibilities:


  1. Lead and manage a team of fabricators, welders, outside vendors, and other shop personnel.
  2. Ensure the shop fabrication team is equipped with the necessary blueprints, materials, and parts to efficiently carry out fabrication tasks. This includes coordinating with procurement to procure materials and parts, maintaining an organized inventory of materials and parts, and ensuring that team members have access to relevant blueprints and documentation needed for fabrication projects.
  3. Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
  4. Coordinate with other departments, such as estimating, project manager and shipping and receiving to ensure timely availability of materials and resources.
  5. Monitor and optimize shop floor processes to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  6. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  7. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure that products meet specifications and quality standards.
  8. Train and develop shop personnel to enhance skills and capabilities.
  9. Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  10. Maintain accurate records of production activities, including inventory levels, labor hours, and equipment maintenance.
  11. Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  12. Fabricating and Welding quality products from raw materials to a finished product.

    Requirements:


    1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
    2. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting, Outlook for communication and scheduling, and Word for documentation and correspondence. The ability to utilize these tools effectively will facilitate communication, data management, and reporting within the shop fabrication team.
    3. Proven experience in shop fabrication management, preferably in the structural steel construction sector.
    4. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
    5. Excellent knowledge of fabrication processes, techniques, and equipment.
    6. Familiarity with welding procedures and metallurgy.
    7. Proficiency in reading, understanding and having vision for both construction and detailed drawings and specifications.
    8. Sound understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
    9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    10. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    11. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    12. 3G/4G GMAW CERTIFICATION WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
