As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our Product Recall team; this role requires candidates to be in Eastern or Central Standard Time.

Primary Function:

The role of the Underwriting Assistant is to process, verify and assign incoming submissions to the Underwriting team. This role is also responsible for the support & servicing of underwriting tasks on a daily basis. This role will also assist with the training and mentoring of new team members when necessary. The Underwriting Assistant acts as an extension to our Underwriters and is responsible for handling urgent requests, all technical processing, and acting as a point of contact for our customers in our Underwriter's absence. The Underwriting Assistant will need to diagnose urgent issues and prioritize them as well as triage accordingly to ensure expeditious handling and retention of business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor & process all incoming submission emails - Create files, add data reports, import documents etc.
  • Process Binders & other underwriting required documentation as necessary
  • Daily follow-up communications with brokers for pending documentation/file status
  • Monitor & process all incoming endorsement requests in a timely manner
  • Responsible for all general underwriting file maintenance
  • Assist with additional assignments as required from various departments within the underwriting divisions
  • Assist with the training of new Underwriting Assistants when necessary
  • Execute technical expertise throughout the policy acquisition and binding process
  • Point of contact for urgent and time sensitive broker requests
  • Audit and perform endorsement corrections where needed
  • Review integrity of incoming and outgoing documents to ensure premium is quoted accurately
  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers
  • Perform tasks as assigned by leadership
  • Process and track renewal solicitations to brokers via Monday.com
  • Process and track biweekly subjectivity follow ups to brokers
  • Innovate and participate in management system upgrades and testing
Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:
  • High School plus 1-3 Years of insurance experience
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to work independently and as a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong data entry skills with high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Proficient with computer, email and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to manage to due dates and follow up timelines
  • Previous experience in customer or direct client support a plus

Disclosures:

Pay Estimate: $55,000-70,000/year

Other compensation: annual incentive program
