As a Supplier Quality Engineer at Siemens Energy Charlotte Power Transformers, you will be an integral part of our mission to ensure fulfillment of requirements of our suppliers. Supporting our multi-functional commodity teams by conducting supplier and product & process qualifications, audits & assessments and developing our global and local suppliers is integral part of your daily contribution to implement the supply strategy. By closely supervising the quality of work and performance of suppliers, you are ensuring they are in line with our quality program and will improve the efficiency of our company.

How You'll make an Impact
  • You are responsible for all relevant SQM Elements related with the materials used for the manufacturing of power transformers (silicon steel, copper, insulation material, oil, bushing, measurement instruments etc.).
  • Coordinate and lead Supplier Quality topics through collaborative activities to support the Commodity Strategy for global and local suppliers.
  • Implement and lead SPPQ (Supplier | Process and Product | Qualification) Process.
  • Perform supplier audits in acc. to IMS standards (ISO9001, 14001 & 45001) and / or VDA6.3.
  • Drive Commodity specific Non-Conformance Management and root cause analysis, corrective and preventive measures. Support risk analysis acc. to Product Safety laws.
  • Supplier Development - initiate and implement supplier quality improvement measures.
  • Implement and negotiate QAA`s (Quality Assurance Agreements) with suppliers.
  • Monitor SQM related KPI`s and propose improvements.
  • Capture ScNCC`s (Supplier caused Non-Conformance Costs) and support related claim activities.
  • Build and maintain strong international working relationships with global supplier network, factories and cross-functions.


What You Bring
  • Bachelor`s degree preferably in engineering or comparable.
  • 5+ years professional experience as supplier quality manager, quality engineer or engineer, preferred for power transformer materials.
  • Profound knowledge in quality controls & auditing (Lead auditor or at least 1st and 2nd party auditor for ISO 9001 and preferably also for ISO14001 & 45001 and VDA 6.3).
  • Knowledge with regards to software quality and general IT solutions.
  • Working experience in technical functions in the businesses of Energy / Transmission or related industries.
  • Knowledge about materials used for the manufacturing of power transformers (silicon steel, copper, insulation material, oil, bushing, measurement instruments etc.).
  • Experience with root cause analysis and other quality & risk management methodologies.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Intercultural experience and motivation to work with multicultural teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English. Additional language skills, as Spanish, are beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel globally.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
