Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of two seasons (1000 hours) work experience as a certified lifeguard and demonstrated supervisory experience, skills or abilities. Must possess a valid American Red Cross Life guarding Certificate and American Red Cross First Aid certificate. Must be certified in American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Pro-Rescuer. Requires knowledge of water rescue methods; life guarding and first-aid practices and techniques; and swimming pool operations to include: sanitation, maintenance, and safety. Must have the ability to courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons. Ability and skill in carrying out and supervising water rescues. Preferred Qualifications include: Lifeguard instructor; Water Safety Instructor; CPO or AFO and Serve- safe certification.
Position Summary Supervises the daily operations of the Aquatic Center and its seasonal staff; ensures the safety of pool patrons and assists with aquatic programs and aquatic center operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other related duties may be assigned.
Perform and/or oversee all pool chemistry testing and maintenance per Health Department Standards and department procedures.
Schedule adequate number of lifeguards, per guidelines, to ensure patron safety; verify scheduled staff have arrived on time for shift and arrange for emergency substitute lifeguards as needed to meet full schedule requirements.
Manage petty cash and supplies for Aquatics Center; distribute daily cash allotment to concessions and admissions to ensure adequate start-up monies for the days sales operations; ensure adequate supplies are available for concessions and registration functions; count daily cash received for concessions and admissions and balance against petty cash allotted and sales received, complete required finance/bookkeeping paperwork and prepare daily deposit.
Assist aquatic staff in supervising and maintaining the deck, pool, and locker room areas; assist as needed in any first aid incident or emergency situations and ensure that all public areas of the Aquatic Center are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
Supervise aquatic center staff and provide any needed support for admissions, concessions, aquatic programs or events to ensure safety of staff and patrons and efficient operations of programs and services. Assist staff in aquatic center opening/setup and closing related activities.
Promptly address maintenance issues in the pump room, concession stand, or on the pool deck.
Respond to requests for Aquatic Center rentals and field trips; provide adequate staff and schedules for events and answer questions from patrons and the public regarding Aquatic Center programs, services and related operations.

Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as detailed safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Can create/write routine reports and correspondence with minimal supervisory oversight; Can speak appropriately and effectively and respond appropriately to questions from groups of members, co-workers, general public or leadership/supervisors.
Math Skills: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in the performance of basic bookkeeping cash management functions; calculates and make accurate change without a calculator. Completes required paperwork/reports/deposits in a timely manner.

While performing this work, the employee requires the ability to sit, stand or walk for moderate periods of time throughout the workday; must be able to swim and perform Life Guard duties/rescue; requires manual dexterity and vision sufficient to perform life guard duties and pool maintenance; and requires hearing and speech sufficient to understand and clearly communicate in conversations, in person and in loud disruptive environments. The employee must have adequate vision including depth perception and peripheral vision to clearly view occupants activity in swimming pool and surrounding pool area. The employee must perform water rescues as emergencies dictate which may require lifting/moving more than 100 pounds of body weight.
