Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
A family owned and operated Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals detailer in Milwaukee, we are currently seeking a Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals Detailer who would be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and plans for the fabrication and installation of structural steel and miscellaneous metal components in our current working projects.

Job Summary: this employee would create detailed, accurate, and comprehensive drawings for the fabrication and installation of structural steel and miscellaneous metal components, this would include steel beams, columns, staircases, handrails, brackets, and other custom metalwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of Detailed Drawings:
oCreate detailed shop drawings, erection plans, and connection details for structural steel and miscellaneous metals, such as staircases, handrails, and other architectural metalwork.
oUse Computer-Aided Design (CAD, SDS2) software to produce clear, precise, and accurate drawings based on architectural and structural designs.
oEnsure that all drawings are compliant with project specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
Fabrication and Installation Details:
oProvide accurate measurements, material specifications, and connection details required for the fabrication and installation of steel and metal components.
oReview and verify shop drawings to ensure that all materials and components conform to project specifications and design requirements.
Review of Structural and Miscellaneous Metal Designs:
oReview structural plans, shop drawings, and material takeoffs to ensure all details are consistent, accurate, and feasible.
oIdentify any potential design or construction conflicts and propose solutions.
Quality Control and Compliance:
oEnsure all detailing work meets quality standards and adheres to industry standards and regulations.
oMaintain detailed records of all drawings, specifications, and communication with project teams.
Coordination of Materials and Schedules:
oHelp coordinate the procurement of materials based on project requirements and timelines.
oTrack project schedules and work with fabrication teams to ensure deadlines are met.
Problem Solving:
oAddress any issues or challenges that arise during the fabrication and installation phases, providing solutions and adjusting drawings when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
oHigh school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s degree in Drafting, or a related field is preferred.
oCertification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, or Revit) is often preferred.
Experience:
o3-5 years of experience in structural steel detailing or a related field.
oExperience working with various types of steel and metal materials, welding processes, and fabrication techniques.
Technical Skills:
oProficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla, etc.).
oStrong understanding of structural engineering principles and building codes.
oAbility to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Additional Skills:
oAttention to detail and accuracy.
oStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
oExcellent communication skills for collaboration with clients, engineers, and contractors.
oTime management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
