MD Staff is actively seeking highly qualified board-certified pathologists specializing in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology for an outstanding locum tenens opportunity in North Carolina. This unique position offers the chance to work with a Regional Medical Examiner facility associated with an esteemed Academic Medical Center.

Work Schedule: The work schedule is designed to ensure efficiency and comprehensive coverage.

  • On days when cases are performed, the preparation begins promptly at 0800, and the last cases are completed before 1600, allowing ample time for cleaning and organization.
  • The provider schedules are structured with one doctor performing cases, another on "back-up" (available in case the primary doctor is unexpectedly unavailable), and the third scheduled for administrative tasks such as report sign-out, teaching, and meetings.

  • Autopsy procedures are conducted with the assistance of a dedicated autopsy assistant.
  • Experience an average of 4 to 6 cases per day, including external exams, with a focus on 1 to 3 autopsies per day, depending on complexity.
  • The majority of cases involve forensic autopsy, with the potential for remote testimony.
  • Participate in around 60 medical/hospital autopsies per year, contributing to a diverse and engaging caseload.
