Brief Job Description:
The Data Entry Operator performs complex data entry for the Texas Health Steps, Newborn Screening, or Microbiological Programs. Duties include proofreading demographics and making corrections as needed; meeting strict deadlines and daily quotas; providing support to ensure a healthy and safe workplace and other duties as assigned. Must be able to work Saturday's and/or state holidays as determined by the agency or supervisor.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
EFJ 1: Enters complex patient, specimen, and test information into the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) computer system. Process approximately 210-450 submission forms daily. Enters 80 submission forms per hour. Determines if additional information is necessary to process test reports. Permits no more than eighteen documented entry errors per year. (40%)
EJF 2: Prints patient and specimen demographics and verifies information on forms (approximately 210-450 per day). Edits incorrect information and releases same day. Process submission forms for archiving. Permits no more than eighteen documented errors of miss-caught information per year. (40%)
EJF 3: Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to performing extra duty functions for each program, supporting the creation of a laboratory-wide safety culture by serving as a liaison to the Safety Office, and actively serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response/recovery or continuity of operations activation which may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. (20%)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of confidentiality best practices for working with medical records, files, and other information.
Skill in data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to type 40 words per minute.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
N/A
Initial Screening Criteria:
1. At least six (6) months of work experience in data entry or college.
2. Experience in proofreading.
3. Experience editing, reviewing, and performing quality assurance checks and/or analyzing documents.
4. Experience working with confidential materials is preferred.
