About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
SVP, Visual Effects (VFX)
to oversee the creative and technical execution of VFX for our films. Reporting to the EVP, Visual Effects, this senior executive role involves collaborating with filmmakers, vendors, and internal teams to deliver visually compelling content that pushes the boundaries of storytelling. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a deep understanding of VFX workflows, emerging technologies, and budget management, as well as a commitment to fostering relationships within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
VFX Production Oversight:
Manage all aspects of VFX production across multiple projects as assigned by EVP, VFX, including pre-production, production, and post-production. As an SVP, there is an expectation that the assigned slate will include some of our most complex and high-profile projects. Script Analysis and Budgeting:
Analyze scripts to create VFX breakdowns, budgets, and schedules, providing recommendations on feasibility and creative approaches. Bidding and Negotiations:
Supervise VFX bidding process and negotiations on assigned projects, maintaining alignment with company policies and budget targets. Vendor and Crew Management:
Collaborate with vendors and VFX teams to ensure high-quality, on-budget, and on-schedule delivery. Build and manage visual effects teams by recruiting VFX Supervisors, Producers, and Vendors. Tracking and Reporting:
Establish and manage consistent reporting systems to monitor budgets, schedules, and VFX progress, ensuring transparency, quality and effective decision-making. Creative and Technical Guidance:
Provide feedback and guidance to VFX Supervisors and Producers to maintain creative vision and technical standards. Technology and Innovation:
Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to improve workflows and visual quality. Requirements:
10-12+ years of experience in VFX leadership roles (e.g., VFX Producer, VFX Supervisor, Post Producer) managing multiple projects across production stages. Demonstrated success negotiating vendor bids, managing budgets, and delivering high-quality VFX within schedule constraints. Strong understanding of VFX workflows, emerging technologies, industry trends, and tax incentives. Experience collaborating with filmmakers, managing teams, and ensuring creative alignment with project goals. Proficiency in relevant software and tools in a Microsoft environment, and familiarity with task tracking platforms and databases (e.g., Flow, Airtable). Excellent executive communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as necessary based on special projects and assignments. Diplomacy and the ability to manage sensitive or confidential issues especially with regard to trade secrets and IP. A passion for creativity, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
This job is based in Los Angeles and will require occasional travel.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $282,404 to $367,125. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
