The Communications Tech Assistant will enter an intensive two-year training program and will be trained to operate and maintain PacifiCorp's communication systems including but not limited to the following equipment; voice and data communication systems, telephone systems, digital microwave radio and multiplex systems, land mobile radio systems, SCADA systems, power line carrier equipment, telemetry, tone relaying, fiber optics/lightwave nodes and cable, and associated switching and termination equipment. The successful candidate will be required to drive a commercial motor vehicle and will usually be assigned to work with other Communication/Electronic Technicians on work assignments during the training period. Off-road travel in extreme weather conditions may be required. Upon graduation from this program, the successful candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting any or all of the above listed equipment and must be able to do so under stressful and time critical conditions. The successful candidate must be available for after-hours callouts as required. The successful candidate will also be responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the company for use in this position. Requirements
Two-year College or technical degree in Electronics or Completion of an industry-wide recognized electronic correspondence course of study, or equivalent experience (military, etc.) Have computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Internet browsers and Excel Must pass PacifiCorp's' Electronic Technician Trainee pool exam. Must have a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and be qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). Preferences
Advanced computer skills Previous experience as an electronic or communications technician in a utility environment Winter survival and snow cat training FCC General Radio Telephone License (GROL) Additional Information
