Assistant Area Coordinator (Time-limited)

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Assistant Area Coordinator works directly with the professional Residence Life Staff, Resident Assistants, and on campus students and will provide support to the Area Coordinator in a particular residential area on campus. The Assistant Area Coordinator will also assist with business analytic tasks that support both Housing Operations and Residence Life. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Manage the day-to-day operations of a specific residence hall or residence halls of students living in traditional single and double rooms.
Directly supervise and evaluate 5-7 Resident Assistants (RA).
Assist with the overall development, planning, and implementation of programming pertaining to Residence Life's residential curriculum.
Assist Area Coordinator with managing area budget and in the analysis of budgetary data to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
Participate in the administrator on-call rotation three weeks per semester and actively respond to a wide range of crises situations.
Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of RA trainings, in-services, and RA selection via departmental committee structure.
Serve as a student conduct hearing officer and hear cases as assigned by Community Standards.
Assist with RA recognition efforts.
Assist with the annual Resident Survey; design and administer surveys to gather resident feedback; analyze the results and provide input to improve Residence Life programs and services.
Provide office support by working 5 hours per week at the front desk of the Student Life Suite assisting with housing related projects.
Liaise and collaborate with campus partners including Facilities, Wellness, and Student Conduct.
Attend weekly professional staff meetings (date and time TBD) and weekly student staff meetings from 4:30-6:30pm on Monday nights.
Collect and analyze recruitment data through the new hire process of RAs.
Create detailed reports on residence hall performance, student engagement, and program effectiveness to support strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor's Degree required.
At least some relevant experience.
Must
demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and autonomously.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must
maintain a positive attitude and represent the College and Department appropriately.
Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
Ability to
anticipate and embrace change ; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
Must have
strong technology skills
including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Ability to
collect, process, and analyze datasets
to produce meaningful insights.
HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Willing to work evening and weekends as required; live-on position; must serve on-call rotation.
This is a live-on, 5-month (January 13, 2025 - Friday, May 23, 2025 (18 working weeks), part time (20 hours per week) position within Babson College's Office of Residence Life. The Assistant Area Coordinator role follows the break dates of Babson's academic program (i.e. spring break).
This position includes an on-campus apartment in a residence hall ( monthly taxes would be incurred as it is a taxable benefit ) and a
taxable meal plan . This position is for one academic-semester.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE
Prior residence life experience, a positive attitude and awareness of social justice principles are preferred.
Experience in Business Analytics is preferred.
