The Court is conducting an open recruitment for a Systems Administrator (a designation within the classification of Information Technology Analyst). The incumbent will be responsible primarily for: analyzing and/or resolving hardware, software and application problems; analyzing and/or resolving network problems and applications access issues; assisting with installing, configuring, testing and maintaining network, server and storage devices; assisting with configuring and maintaining file servers and directories; defining technical specifications from user and business requirements; project planning coordination; service level agreements; developing and employing test plans, and test cases; effectively communicating technical issues to user and client community; and user acceptance testing.

Examples of Duties
Primary duties include assisting senior staff with the following:
Works independently on large-scale complex infrastructure projects, as well as other complex Court projects, as assigned; Provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintain a complex infrastructure environment (LAN, WAN, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), intrusion detection systems, wireless, VoIP, physical servers (hosts), virtual servers (VMWare), routers, switches, firewalls, etc.); Administer servers, desktop, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, and patches; Implement leading-edge technologies to enhance end-user productivity; Design and implementation of new solutions and improving the resilience of the current environment; Manages activities related to keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including backing up the system, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, implementing security and virus protection, and providing after-hour monitoring and support. Monitoring network security in assigned areas of network administration responsibility and working with senior staff to resolve security issues; Manages user accounts, security, backups, data recovery processes, electronic mail, enterprise applications, software updates and print/file services; Performs any project and priority work as assigned by management; Act as a liaison between Court and vendors; Serving as the second level for IT help desk issues involving network, file server and other matters assigned; Identifies improvement opportunities, which includes, but not limited to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting techniques. Provide technical and end-user computer training. Preparing technical documentation and procedural manuals; and Other duties as assigned.

Standard industry practices and methods of systems/network administration and maintenance;
Analysis and/or the resolution of hardware, software and application problems;
Installation and maintenance of enterprise, distributed, client/server and desktop computer systems;
Definition of technical specifications from user and business requirements;
Computer systems configuration;
Project planning coordination;
Service level agreements;
Test plan, test case, and testbed development and use;
Practices of effective communication of technical issues to user and client community;

Ability to:

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Education and Work Experience at one of the following levels:
A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and two (2) years' experience in the areas of systems analysis, systems engineering, programming, database administration and/or analysis, operating systems, network analysis and/or management or similar field in a multi-platform information systems environment;
OR
An Associate's Degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and four (4) years' experience in the areas of systems analysis, systems engineering, programming, database administration and/or analysis, operating systems, network analysis and/or management or similar field in a multi-platform information systems environment;
OR
Two (2) years' experience as an Information Systems Technician II with this Court.
Relevant full-time experience may substitute for either degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Alternatively, completion of an approved computer science certification program in database, programming, systems analysis or technical operations may substitute for one year of a degree requirement.
License or Certifications: Cisco CCNA, VMware, Microsoft associate, CISSP certifications are preferred, but not required.

Because the Court operates in multiple branches, the employee may be required to travel to other court locations, and possession of a valid California driver's license is therefore required. All employees of the court who operate a vehicle on court business must certify they possess a valid California Driver's License and required levels of automobile insurance.
Convictions
Felony and misdemeanor convictions MAY BE disqualifying for employment with the court. The court will assess the nature and gravity of the offense, the time that has elapsed since the offense was committed, and the nature of the job duties to be performed.
