IT Lab Computing Support Specialist - Contract - Summit West, NJ - $29.00 -$36.00/hr.

Our client is seeking an IT Lab Computing Support Specialist in Summit West, NJ.
Role Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated IT Benchtop Support Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive support for laboratory IT environments, which are integral to our Cell Therapy Operations. The ideal candidates will be responsible for supporting both software and hardware systems connected to laboratory instruments, managing user access, and ensuring the smooth operation of lab computing systems. This position requires flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for customer laboratory IT environments, including operating systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, and instrument-controlled software. Manage the on-boarding, retirement, and relocation of lab equipment and computers. Implement and monitor Windows-based security measures, including user/group permissions, file/folder permissions, group policies, and local security policies. Act as the primary technical support contact for instrument vendors, facilitating repairs and troubleshooting instrument-related computer issues. Escalate complex issues to the client infrastructure teams as necessary. Provide technical support for new system validations and change management efforts. Create and maintain a physical inventory of lab equipment, PCs, software, and other specified information. Handle user access management tasks, including adding, modifying user roles, and resetting passwords. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work practices meticulously to ensure compliance with GMP Requirements. Provide Audit Trail Reports as needed.
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications: - Experience: Previous experience in IT support, particularly in a laboratory or research environment, is highly desirable. - Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing Windows operating systems and desktop hardware and the ability to solve complex IT related issues. - Security Knowledge: Strong understanding of Windows-based security, including user/group permissions and local security policies. - Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams. - Flexibility: Ability to work nights, weekends, and provide 24/7 support as required. - Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
Education: Bachelor's degree is preferred. Additional Information: - Onsite requirement: This position is fully on-site, 100%. - Schedule: Flexibility in scheduling is a must to ensure 24/7 support coverage. - Work environment: Mostly in an office environment. Possible exposure to hazardous materials or blood when visiting a lab to maintain hardware.
