About the Role
Cyber Management is actively recruiting an Azure Cloud/DevOps Engineer to support our clients at the U.S. Department of State (DOS) providing Diplomatic, Consular, and Cybersecurity services worldwide.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical leadership and support to DOS Bureau integrated product teams (IPT) designing, implementing and securing modernized global cloud solutions via Azure.
Provide expertise in the design, transition, operation and security of various types of cloud services to include but not limited to SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. Integrate with sensitive legacy networks, distributed global applications and related virtual services.
Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud services and Infrastructure as Code utilizing SecDevOps tooling and practices.
Support development of Azure capabilities that meet Application and Database requirements for Disaster Recovery of domestic and overseas systems.
Consult with customers to gather and evaluate technical and business requirements and translate these requirements into technical solutions that align with Federal and DOS security guidelines.
Research, evaluate, and deploy advanced cloud computing systems for clients in research and production areas.
Provide technical expertise on cloud cluster computing techniques and technologies and expert advice to the program, and related cloud computing architectures.
Experience with information extraction and analysis techniques, practices, and algorithms.
Deploy, update and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps server or similar tools.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate new features into the pipeline.
Conduct code reviews for pull requests to ensure coding standards and practices are followed.
Security Best Practices:
Conduct regular audits of roles and access policies using RBAC and Active Directory.
Ensure compliance with security policies and practices, including reviewing firewall rules and identity management processes.
Stay updated on best practices for cloud security and implement changes as needed.
Operations & Maintenance:
Monitoring:
Check the health and performance of cloud resources (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud).
Review logs and metrics to identify any anomalies or security incidents.
Utilize Azure Monitor or equivalent tools for alerts and remediation.
Automating Routine Tasks:
Write and test scripts in PowerShell and Bash to automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) to create or modify infrastructure configurations.
Document automation processes and update scripts as necessary.
Qualifications :
Basic Requirements Requires US Citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance before start date and to potentially obtain a Top-Secret security clearance. Bachelor’s degree and 12-14 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of related experience can be used in lieu of degree. Cloud Experience (Azure, AWS, and Google). Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud environments highly desired (Azure Architect, Azure Administrator, etc.). Proficient in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Server or similar tools. Skilled in creating and optimizing build and release pipelines, managing artifacts, and automating deployment workflows. Experienced with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices utilizing Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or comparable technologies. Possess or be able to obtain before start date at least one of the following certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, GCED or GCIH. Demonstrated ability to propose suggestions and best practices to optimize customers’ cloud presence, performance, security, and cost. Qualifications :
Desired qualifications Identity Management: Basic understanding of Identity and Access Management principles, including RBAC and Active Directory. Infrastructure: Strong understanding of networking, firewalls, storage solutions, and related technologies (PKI, LDAP). System Integration: Experience integrating IT systems into customer networks. Development Tools: Familiarity with IDEs (e.g., VSCode) and version control using Git (including forks, branches, and pull requests). DevOps Practices: Basic understanding of DevOps and CI/CD processes. File Formats: Understanding of JSON and YAML data formats.
