Senior Data & Applied Scientist
to join Bing Places team in Microsoft AI.

Responsibilities
Driving projects from design through implementation, experimentation and finally shipping to our users.
Working on Large Language Models (LLMs) and utilizing and fine-tuning small language models to scale experiences globally and in multiple languages.
Own development of state-of-the-art machine learning, deep learning algorithms and techniques leveraging text and images for analyzing and transforming content to build world-class search and information retrieval products that have the potential to transform millions of people’s lives.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR equivalent experience.
Demonstrated data & applied science experience working with Large Language models (LLMs) and Small Language models (SLMs).
Experience in data analysis, including statistical analysis and machine learning.
Other Requirements:
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years’ experience in applying deep learning techniques and/or drive end-to-end AI product development.
Experience with distributed big data processing.
7+ years’ experience with common machine learning, deep learning frameworks.
Experience with fine-tuning state-of-the-art language models and multimodal models.
Proficiency in integrating text, image, and other types of data from various modalities to build and deploy robust, scalable AI solutions.
Data & applied science experience working with Computer Vision and Multimodal models.
Publication track records at top conferences like ACL, EMNLP, SIGKDD, AAAI, WSDM, COLING, WWW, NIPS, ICASSP, etc.
Understanding of business metrics and how they impact search.
Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
