Security Operations Specialist
for our Supportive Housing Residences. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the
Security Operations Specialist
is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 security and operations of the supportive housing portfolio, including the effective oversight of access control, incident interventions, incident reporting, and follow-up. The Security Operations Specialist directly impacts the quality of life of all tenants and program staff by providing a structurally safe, positive environment through training and coaching while ensuring that the community inside and outside of our building is supported effectively. Candidate must have prior experience in operations and security. Works with supervisor and senior leadership to build, implement, and oversee operational standards and processes over the entire permanent housing portfolio. Collaborate with LCS Program management, security vendors, and property management to maintain safety protocols. Schedule routine quarterly site safety assessments. Follow up with site summaries and schedule on-site training and or coaching sessions for various security vendors, property management, and program staff as needed. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Oversee training of security vendor staff on Lantern Community Services Supportive Housing Operations protocols and procedures. Provide on-site support and oversight at a variety of residential sites based on need and changing priorities. Regularly assess the effectiveness of site-specific security and develop solutions to address problem areas. Troubleshoot and provide temporary coverage if needed when contracted security is late or other issues arise. In collaboration with VP of Operations, assess, develop, and implement portfolio-wide strategies and systems. Collaborate with LCS leadership and security vendors to update and maintain site-specific post-orders. Assist and train security officers on incident documentation and follow-up. Ensure building staff and security are trained regularly on fire safety/evacuation plans, active shooter protocol, use of panic buttons, use of walkie talkies, etc. Review camera footage and respond verbally and in writing to security incidents and outcomes. Provide any additional coaching or training that is needed to both staff and contracted security. Collaborate with Property Management as needed and ensure security booths are in good working condition. Work with VP, C-Suite, IT, and Property Management to review and assess the use of technology for security. Facilitate and actively participate in the organization Safety Committee. Facilitate and actively participate in regularly scheduled meetings with program leadership and security vendors. Required Education, Skills, and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field such as project management or business management. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience. Experience with supportive housing or shelter required. Background working in operations or security required. Experience working with a population with special needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees. Great time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Experience with operations and access control protocol and procedures. Ability to meet deadlines and develop and adhere to project timelines. Strong computer and systems knowledge. Collaborative team player able to develop and maintain relations with both internal and external stakeholders. Work Environment:
This job operates in both the office and in the field. There will be frequent travel to the supportive housing sites as well as to other locations throughout New York City as needed. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb stairs, and/or kneel. Occasionally the employee will have to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
