The admissions recruiter builds relationships with prospective Ivy Tech Community College students, directly guides and persuades them through the process of transitioning from a prospect to an admitted student, and assists with executing the recruitment plan under the supervision of the director of admissions.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participate in recruiting efforts on- and off-campus including but not limited to: college fairs, high school visits, information events, and community activities within our campus service area. Such events take place both during regular business hours and occasionally after hours (evenings and weekends).
- Recruit on behalf of Ivy Tech Valparaiso and Michigan City, sharing and selling the benefits of the Community College in order to increase the number of inquiries and applicants to the College along with the conversion of those inquiries and applicants to help move students through the enrollment process.
- Manage, effectively track and recruit potential student groups with the use of a client relationship management (CRM) tool.
- Maintain satisfactory conversion rates of the prospective student population in the Ivy Tech Valparaiso and Michigan City service area recruiting territories.
- Conduct campus tours and personal visits with both scheduled and walk-in prospective students on a one-on-one basis.
- Demonstrate high quality customer service through professional and enthusiastic demeanor, appearance and communication.
- Work closely with internal Ivy Tech personnel to coordinate overall recruitment activities effectively. Such personnel may include: marketing, the office of K-14 Initiatives, campus cabinet, academic program chairs, career coaches, and others.
- Assist with the management of admissions- and recruitment-related inventory and disseminate such materials in coordination with other regional and statewide communications and recruitment efforts.
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner with all internal and external points of contact.
- This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, typically daytime hours Monday-Friday
- This position may require work outside of the normal Monday-Friday daytime schedule for recruiting events, school visits, etc.

- Must possess excellent "people" skills including working successfully with prospective students, internal and external collaborators and partners, and diverse groups.
- Must possess skills and experience in public speaking.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
- Previous computer experience is required.
- Must possess a willingness and an ability to travel and work a flexible schedule that will occasionally include evening and weekend events.
- Must have reliable mode of transportation.
