Hightower's Summer Internship Program: Our Interns have the chance to learn more about Hightower's culture and businesses while developing practical skills necessary for future success and post-graduate opportunities. The 10-week summer program includes weekly conversations with C-level professionals related to career development, networking opportunities with Hightower with fellow interns and colleagues, and engaging workshops related post-graduation skills and money management. The program culminates with a final presentation given to Hightower executives and managers The summer internship program is aimed to provide opportunities to: Learn directly from industry experts by having weekly 1:1 conversation related to career development Attend workshops related post-college career paths and personal development Gain exposure to the financial services industry Develop a comprehensive understanding of specific team and department initiatives and goal As an intern, you will participate in development meeting, a variety of networking, mentoring and community events, all intended to reinforce the Core Values of the Program - Education, Innovation, Leadership, Collaboration and Service. The internship will run from June 4th, 2025, to August 8th, 2025 and is a paid position. Your Future Team As a Cybersecurity Intern, you'll be joining a dynamic and dedicated team committed to protecting our organization from evolving cyber threats. The team is led by our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who oversees the overall security strategy and ensures alignment with organizational goals. Day-to-day operations are managed by our experienced Director of Cybersecurity, who will serve as your primary mentor, providing guidance and support as you navigate critical projects. You'll collaborate closely with our Cybersecurity Risk Manager to analyze and mitigate potential security risks, gaining valuable insights into risk assessment and management strategies. The Cybersecurity Administrator will involve you in maintaining and enhancing our security systems, offering hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools and technologies. Additionally, you'll partner with our Junior Cybersecurity Analyst to monitor threats, investigate incidents, and respond to challenges in real time. What You'll Do We are seeking a highly motivated Cybersecurity Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience protecting the organization's sensitive financial data and systems. This internship is ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. You will work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals to help safeguard against cyber threats, support risk management efforts, and learn about the latest tools and practices in the cybersecurity field. Assist with Security Monitoring : Help monitor security alerts, system logs, and network traffic to detect potential threats and anomalies. Vulnerability Scanning : Participate in regular vulnerability scans to identify weaknesses in our systems, applications, and networks. Incident Response Support : Assist in investigating security incidents, collecting evidence, and documenting findings to help mitigate future risks. Security Awareness & Training : Support the creation of internal security awareness materials and assist in employee cybersecurity training initiatives. Tool Administration : Help with the management and configuration of cybersecurity tools such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. Policy and Compliance Support : Assist with ensuring compliance with internal security policies, industry regulations and help prepare for security audits. Security Research : Stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices, and assist the team in implementing new solutions to improve security posture. Documentation : Maintain accurate records of security activities, incident reports, and findings, ensuring they are organized and easy to reference. What You'll Bring Education : Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Technical Knowledge : Basic understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS), cybersecurity concepts (e.g., encryption, firewalls, VPNs), and operating systems (Windows, Linux). Hands-On Tools Experience : Familiarity with security tools (e.g., antivirus software, firewalls, SIEM systems) is a plus but not required. Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze and assess data and logs to identify patterns and potential security threats. Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings and interact with team members. Problem-Solving Ability : Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and come up with effective solutions, both independently and as part of a team. Interest in Cybersecurity : Passion for learning about cybersecurity trends, risks, and technologies. Team Player : Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
