Job Description
Reports To: Director of Operations
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and running the manufacturing operations in the HVAC sector. This role encompasses ensuring that production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards while maintaining a safe working environment. The Manufacturing Manager will oversee the production team and collaborate with other departments to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring that production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations are met.
- Analyze production performance metrics and make necessary adjustments to processes to optimize productivity and minimize waste.
- Implement and manage production plans that align with organizational goals and customer requirements.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors and employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and ensure continuous training opportunities are available.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and industry regulations.
- Lead quality control initiatives and implement corrective actions as needed to address quality issues.
- Conduct regular quality audits, process evaluations, and inspections to maintain product quality consistency.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure production efficiency and capacity utilization.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement among staff by encouraging innovative ideas and solutions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to create a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety training programs, risk assessments, and audits to promote safety awareness among employees.
- Implement and manage safety protocols to minimize workplace accidents and hazards.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage and control manufacturing budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources and cost effectiveness.
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory management to ensure efficient supply chain operations.
- Oversee inventory management processes to ensure timely availability of materials for production.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to align manufacturing processes with overall company objectives.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide updates on production status, challenges, and solutions.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders to ensure clarity of production goals.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong background in HVAC manufacturing processes and technologies.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with manufacturing software and ERP systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery and production activities.
- May require standing, walking, and the ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
- Some evening or weekend shifts may be required to meet production deadlines.
